Sydney woman's remains found eight years after alleged murder

The suspected remains of a missing Sydney woman have been found almost eight years after her alleged murder.Nadire Sensoy disappeared from her Prospect home in Sydney's west in December 2018.In 2020, an appeal was made and a reward was offered for fresh information on the whereabouts of the 71-year-old. A coronial inquest into her death began in 2023, but was suspended days later due to the arrest of a man.On Thursday police were excavating an area of interest at Powers Road in Seven Hills when her remains were found in a shallow grave about 100 metres from a creek bed.Superintendent Darrin Batchelor said a 50-year-old man was before the courts and police would allege her murder was domestic violence-related.He said Ms Sensoy's family had mixed emotions about the discovery."They did get comfort that her body had been located," he said. "But obviously the emotions of reliving what had happened to their mother They were quite upset at the same time."He said police had been speaking with the accused man over several years and investigators had been unable to establish an alleged motive.Police believed the man murdered Ms Sensoy between December 6, 2018, and December 11, 2018, in the Blacktown area.Superintendent Batchelor said Ms Sensoy's remains were now with the coroner, with her cause of death to be determined."There may be further charges coming out of that," he added. Superintendent Batchelor said a reward of $350,000 was still available for information surrounding her death.Investigations are ongoing.
