Suzie Miller took the risky path away from a safe job as a judge, with no regrets

And I thought, well, yeah, but no thanks to all the theatre companies for not picking up stuff.
And ironically when I did Prima Facie in Australia, it was because it was a female artistic director who could see what was possible with the play and put it on.But I'm very happy here [in London] and I feel like my sensibility really does match the kind of British theatrical experience Are they too defensive, or are they able to hear? Are juries able to process the legal questions that are before them? To what extent do they bring their humanity in with them?
And what conversations do they have? I also want to explore something else in the play that I won't say but it fits in with a lot of what we've been talking about in the other two plays, and also touches on the concept of, what is it to have something restorative in the legal system?Your career has benefited because London's National Theatre was willing to embrace your work and work with you. They're fantastic. Why does Australia not have a national theatre that's developing new and emerging artists?I think the equivalent is basically the Sydney Theatre Company and the Melbourne Theatre Company
