An 85-year-old man missing in Victoria's High Country since Sunday night has been found alive.Jacobus "John" Bakkum was last seen leaving the Harrietville Hotel, south-east of Mount Buffalo, shortly after 8pm on Sunday.He had been having dinner with his wife, who walked home as part of their regular routine.But instead of driving the 500 metres directly home, it is believed Mr Bakkum drove in the opposite direction along the Great Alpine Road, through Hotham Heights.His silver 2007 Toyota Prado was spotted down an embankment just off the Omeo Highway on Tuesday. Police say Mr Bakkum was found trapped in his car, and that the circumstances surrounding the crash or when it occurred were yet to be determined.He has been transported to hospital and will be reunited with family.Earlier today police released CCTV showing Mr Bakkum driving through Omeo at 9:44pm on Sunday.Police received reports of another possible sighting of him in the Biggara area yesterday at 10:30am.Biggara is nearly 200 kilometres north-east of Harrietville in the Upper Murray region.Mr Bakkum is well-known in Harrietville and received an award from Alpine Shire Council in 2021 for his community work.
