The Northern Territory's top organized crime fighter, Detective Sergeant Kenneth Bradshaw, has warned that notorious bikie gangs, including the Rebels, Mongols, Bandidos, and Hells Angels, are actively recruiting members in NT prisons and expanding their presence in the territory. These gangs are involved in violent crime and high-level drug distribution, including methamphetamine and firearms trafficking. NT Police have arrested 40 Mongols members, including the club's president, in connection with extortion and drug charges. Sergeant Bradshaw says the gangs' culture of silence and fear of retribution makes it difficult for victims to come forward and give evidence, and is calling for anti-consorting law reform to deter gangs from using the NT as a safe haven.
