Vahid Reza Adib, the partner of former Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, has had his charges mentioned in court for the first time since being charged with three counts of rape.The 64-year-old Brisbane-based surgeon was charged with the offences, as well as two counts of deprivation of liberty and one count of sexual assault, on May 1 after voluntarily attending a Gold Coast police station.Police allege the offences occurred at Dr Adib's Burleigh Heads apartment on March 30 and involved a woman aged in her 30s.Dr Adib did not appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today, but his charges were briefly mentioned and the case was adjourned to July 7. Dr Adib was granted police bail under the provisions of Queensland's Bail Act, which allows the officer in charge of a police station to release an alleged offender after they are charged, but before they face a Magistrates Court.Court documents seen by the ABC reveal Dr Adib has surrendered his passport as a requirement of his bail conditions.Dr Adib's registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency remains active, without any conditions imposed.During today's hearing Magistrate Jane Bentley ordered Dr Adib's defence team be provided a brief of evidence for the charges by June 23.Defence lawyer Dan Rogers, who represented Dr Adib in court, has previously said Dr Adib intends to "vigorously defend the charges".Dr Adib has been in a relationship with former Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk since 2021.There is no suggestion of wrongdoing or involvement by Ms Palaszczuk.
