Father faces court after allegedly murdering wife and two sons

A man accused of murdering his wife and two sons in Sydney's south-west will remain behind bars after fronting court for the first time. The 47-year-old was charged overnight with what police described as the "particularly violent" murder of the 46-year-old woman and his two sons aged 12 and four.Police said officers responded to a call from inside a Campbelltown home about 7:50pm on Monday.Superintendent Michael Moroney said the three victims were found dead in different rooms in the house. The man did not appear in court in person and did not apply for bail.He was represented by lawyer Jawad Hosain, who said outside court that his client was "distressed". "It's obviously a tragic set of circumstances," Mr Hosain said."At this stage we don't wish to comment on the proceedings … my client enjoys his right to the presumption of innocence."Superintendent Moroney said the man and his family were not previously known to police."What this does is really highlight the scourge that domestic violence is across the community," he said.Superintendent Moroney said the man had been living at the Campbelltown home for some time."In terms of the exact circumstances, how long he's been living there, and the domestic violence circumstances surrounding it — that is unclear," he said.A crime scene remains in place at the scene, where nearby neighbours could be seen laying flowers on Tuesday morning.Neighbour Amanda Wasilewski said she had been relaxing by her fireplace when emergency services arrived in her street last night. She said the family kept to themselves and the children were polite and well-behaved.
