Australian author, poet, and librettist David Malouf has died at 92. A National Living Treasure and recipient of numerous awards, including the Australia Council Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature, Malouf is best known for his novels, particularly "Johnno", a semi-autobiographical tale of growing up in mid-century Brisbane. Throughout his career, Malouf published numerous novels, poetry collections, and non-fiction works, and was known for his unique voice and evocative writing style. He believed in the power of language and storytelling, and that once a work is published, it belongs to the reader, not the author.
